Who Sarah is, and why it matters

arah Carter is the tester who sleeps on our pillows night after night, for at least two weeks each. She cares less about the first impression than about how a pillow feels on night twelve, when it’s no longer new.

As a back sleeper, she watches for what a store can’t show you: foam that flattens, a seam that starts to rub, loft that slowly sinks. She measures loft on nights 1, 7 and 14 and logs every change.

Our durability and support scores come straight from her notes. Since 2024 she has tested 50+ pillows across 11 fill types.

Areas of expertise
Pillow durability testing Back-sleeper support Loft retention Foam compression & recovery Cover and seam wear

I don’t score a pillow on night one. I score it on night fourteen, after I’ve slept on it, fluffed it and washed it if the label allows. If the loft drops, the number goes in the review.

How Sarah tests a pillow

01

Same bed, every test

Same bedroom, mattress and pillowcase type, so results compare fairly.

02

Measure loft 3 times

Nights 1, 7 and 14, with a digital caliper at the same spots each time.

03

Care as the label says

Fluffs or washes only as the care label allows, and
logs it.

04

Score durability

Loft lost, seam wear and support on night 14 set the score.
